The rate of return from a period of less than one year converted to
an annual (yearly) basis.
It also refers to the revenues a company would generate over the next
twelve months if the current revenue growth rate remained unchanged

example, a security which returns 1% a month has a run rate of 12.68%
because of compound interest.
